The “Jewel of Seaview”is an elegant example of “Picturesque”. A design movement that combines the pictorial value and importance of creative architecture and the charm of a rustic landscape. Built in 1888 it’s extensive use of old growth redwood and cedar on the interior and a variety of shingle styles on the exterior , along with a viewing turret, many doors leading to enjoying the ocean air, rustic views and garden, propelled it to become a National Historic Landmark.
